Kat joined South Shore Peer Recovery in January 2025 after working as a primary therapist in partial hospitalization programs for individuals recovering from substance use disorders and dual diagnoses. She focused on a trauma-informed approach to healing and utilized behavioral therapies such as CBT, DBT, ACT, as well as mindfulness, meditation, and art therapy. Kat has also worked with children and adults with disabilities and has supported people in recovery in non-clinical settings.
Kat holds a degree in art therapy with a minor in fine arts from Lesley University and has facilitated art therapy in a variety of environments. She believes in the power of community connection as the foundation for long-term recovery and advocates for ending stigma by celebrating recovery out loud through expressive arts. Kat has curated, organized, and hosted art shows for artists in recovery from addiction and has illustrated a children’s book series for those grieving parents lost to substance use disorder. Her passion for building community in recovery is deeply inspired by her own journey of recovery from substance use and mental health challenges.
